Nova Scotia backcountry
Camping & Photography

When I was 14, I went on a two-week YMCA canoe trip through Nova Scotia's backcountry. We portaged between lakes, slept in tents, cooked on open fires, and didn't see a road for days. That trip is the reason I keep going back into the woods every chance I get.
Photography came along a few years later, mostly because I wanted to bring back more than just memories. I shoot most of my photos while camping or hiking — landscapes, light at golden hour, the occasional close-up of something interesting on a portage. The two hobbies sharpen each other: photography makes me look more carefully, and being outside gives me more worth looking at.
